When the popular YouTube channel Barefoot Doctors Sailing toured our Triac Composites factory in Vietnam, they invited Paul Koch, co-founder of Rapido Trimarans and Rapido Catamarans, to introduce our refreshingly innovative new power catamaran — the Rapido 500 ECO.

Designed for exceptional fuel efficiency, comfort, and real-world cruising performance, this 50-footer is turning heads for all the right reasons.

Transcript of interview regarding Rapido 500 ECO Power Cat

[9.31 mins] Paul Koch: Yes, we have a 50 ft super fuel-efficient, lightweight, low-powered, reasonably fast power catamaran.

It uses 18 litres of fuel per hour at an average speed of 11 to 12 knots.

John: So that's 1.5 L per mile! Oh, it's incredible.

Phil: That taps into all of our building technology. We know how to build lightweight performance vessels. So, that technology, we have brought across from the Rapido sailing trimarans to the Rapido power cat.

So, it's 50-footer with a light displacement of 6.2 tons - which also makes it incredibly well suited for electric.

Paul: And, incredibly seaworthy (CE-A certification).

Delivery times for orders made now?

Paul: Depends on the boat, but if you said 6 months, it'd be very conservative.

We could probably do one even quicker at times.

What about after sales service?

Paul: We've flown people around the world to fix stuff, usually, but we've also got a lot of contacts going back 30–40 years in the US and in Europe — guys that I've worked with from Corsair and who are still our sort of agents.

We can back up everything pretty well straight away.
